How Buhari Spent Days in ICU During London Medical Trip
Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari was recently admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in the United Kingdom, according to a report by Empowered Newswire. The report, citing a close family member, revealed that Buhari fell ill while in London for a medical check-up and was hospitalized for several days before being discharged last week.
Although the specific nature of his illness was not disclosed, sources say Buhari is now recuperating in London and is expected to return to Nigeria once his recovery is complete. The report also noted that Mamman Daura, Buhari’s uncle and close confidant, is currently convalescing in the UK as well.
Buhari’s health condition may explain his absence from public events, most notably the 50th anniversary celebration of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held in Lagos on May 28. In a letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, Buhari explained that he was unable to attend due to his medical appointments in the UK.
On May 1, a photo of former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa visiting Buhari in London surfaced online. The details of their meeting were not made public.
