How a Federal University Lecturer Was Crushed to Death by a Truck in Lokoja

A female lecturer at the Federal University Lokoja, Kemi Emmanuel, tragically lost her life on Wednesday, October 22, after being crushed by a truck along the Crusher-Felele axis of the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway.

Witnesses said the lecturer, who taught in the Department of Theatre Arts, was on a commercial motorcycle when she was struck by a moving truck. The impact reportedly caused her to fall off the motorcycle, after which the truck ran over her.

Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Tenimu Etuku, said the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. Rescue officers quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, where she was confirmed dead. Her body has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary.

Etuku expressed dismay over the conduct of the motorcycle rider, who allegedly fled the scene claiming to be pursuing the hit-and-run truck. He cautioned commercial motorcyclists against reckless competition with larger vehicles on highways, stressing that such actions endanger the lives of their passengers and other road users.
