“Hold Akpabio, Yahaya Bello Responsible for Any Violence in Kogi” – Senator Natasha

Suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello of being responsible for any violence that may erupt during her planned homecoming rally. She made this declaration ahead of her Eid-el-Fitr celebrations with her constituents on Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to a peaceful gathering but warned that any disruption would be the direct responsibility of the named political figures. Her statement followed an order from the Kogi State Police Command, reportedly acting on higher directives, instructing her to cancel the planned rally. The directive is widely seen as part of an ongoing crackdown on opposition figures in the state.

Despite the police order, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s media team dismissed any claims that she had abandoned her visit. In a statement, they clarified that the senator was proceeding with her plans as scheduled, countering online rumors about a cancellation.

The controversy comes amid growing political tensions in Kogi State. Just a day before, Governor Ododo imposed a sweeping ban on rallies and public gatherings, citing security concerns. However, critics argue that the decision is a calculated move to suppress opposition voices ahead of the 2027 elections.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, a vocal critic of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi, has repeatedly faced political and legal battles, including violent attacks on her supporters. Despite these challenges, she remains determined to maintain her presence in the state’s political landscape.
