Hippopotamus Kills Guard at Emir of Yauri’s Farm
A hippopotamus fatally attacked Malam Usman Maigadi, a guard at the Orchard Farm owned by the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi, on Sunday in Kebbi State. Reports indicate that the animal may have perceived Maigadi as a threat to its young, prompting the defensive attack while he was fishing in the Yauri River at Tillo Village.
The 60-year-old victim was buried in accordance with Islamic rites after a funeral prayer in Yauri, as confirmed by Alhaji Abubakar Shu’aibu, Chairman of the Local Government.
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris expressed his condolences through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Idris. The governor extended his sympathies to the Yauri Emirate and Maigadi’s family, encouraging them to find solace in their faith. He also prayed for the deceased, asking for forgiveness and a place in Jannatul Firdaus.
