Heartbreaking Farewell: Father, Sons Buried After Tragic Building Collapse in Anambra
In a heart-wrenching ceremony that brought tears to the eyes of many, Chizoba Anaefuna, an artisan who lost his life in a building collapse, has been laid to rest alongside his two young sons in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The funeral took place on Friday, where Anaefuna and his sons were interred in their family compound.
The atmosphere in Nimo was somber as friends and family gathered to pay their final respects to the trio. The tragedy struck three weeks ago in Nnewi when the building they were working on collapsed, claiming their lives.
A source from Nimo shared the harrowing details of the incident, highlighting the heartbreak and devastation that the community felt. Chizoba Anaefuna, a resident of Lagos, had returned to Anambra for a job as an electrician. He decided to bring his two sons, who were on holiday from school, to assist him at the worksite.
Tragically, the building gave way, taking the lives of Chizoba Anaefuna and his two sons. Their bodies were laid in state during the funeral service, evoking profound sadness among the mourners.
“The late Chizoba had an electrical installation job to complete at Animanjo’s compound, Otolo Nnewi, being a trained electrician. He came back from Lagos, where he was based, and decided to take his two children, who were schooling in the village, along to his site, being that they were on holidays, not knowing that the devil had planned to end their lives,” the source stated.
The deceased leave behind an aged mother and grandmother who had been caring for the children before their father’s return and their subsequent journey to Nnewi. The entire community is left grappling with the painful loss of a father and his two promising young sons.
