“He Said He Wants Peace” — Wike Confirms Fubara Visited Him With APC Governors
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara recently paid him a visit in an effort to broker peace amid their ongoing political feud. Speaking with journalists on Monday, Wike revealed that Fubara did not come alone — he was accompanied by two All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and a respected elder statesman.
“Fubara came to me with two governors and one elder statesman. Just that they are both APC governors. He said he wants peace,” Wike said, in a manner that underscored his continued political dominance.
The closed-door meeting reportedly took place at Wike’s residence. According to insiders, Fubara walked directly into Wike’s living room — described as “familiar terrain” — and appealed to his former ally to end the fierce political standoff that has rocked Rivers State for months.
Those present included Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba.
The visit marks a striking turn in the political drama that led to Fubara’s suspension by President Bola Tinubu in March, as tensions over control in the state spiraled out of hand. For Wike, the visit appeared to serve as a quiet but telling affirmation of who still holds the upper hand.
