“He Is from Nawgu, Not Enugwu-Ukwu”: Anambra Community Denies Ties to Seminarian Accused of Defiling a Minor

The community of Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State has publicly refuted claims made by a seminarian accused of defiling a minor. The suspect, Chukwudi Okoye, was arrested for allegedly defiling a ten-year-old girl. During interrogation, he claimed to be from Enugwu-Ukwu. However, community leaders from Enugwu-Ukwu have clarified that Okoye is not one of their own.

H.R.H. Igwe Okekeuche, the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, emphasized that Okoye is in fact from Nawgu in Dunukofia Local Government Area. This clarification aims to preserve the integrity and reputation of Enugwu-Ukwu, ensuring that the actions of the accused do not reflect upon their community.

“We want to make it clear that Chukwudi Okoye is not from Enugwu-Ukwu,” Igwe Okekeuche stated. “The people of Enugwu-Ukwu strongly condemn his actions and wish to distance themselves from any association with this incident.”

The Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Welfare is currently involved in the case, working with security agencies to ensure justice is served. The community of Nawgu, where Okoye is actually from, has yet to comment on the situation.
