Hardship: Keke Rider Commits Suicide in Kogi
The Kogi Police Command has confirmed the death of a yet to be identified man said to be a commercial tricycle operator by suspected suicide in Lokoja, the state capital.
The incident happened at about 12:3OPM on Tuesday at Meme Bridge a few metres meters away from the popular Dunamis Church, Lokoja.
The deceased was said to have arrived the bridge, parked his tricycle and within a twinkle of an eye, he jumped, making a wide splash in the river.
A witness who preferred not to be named narrated how shocked the people around were at the ugly sight.
He blamed the current hardship facing people in the country as a possible reason for suicide.
The corps was yet to be recovered as at the time of filing this report.
”There is nothing anybody can do when the Keke Man jumped into the river. When he jumped, we saw snake and there was nothing anyone could do as at that moment”.
The Kogi State Police spokesman, SP William Ovye Aya while confirming it, said the matter was being investigated.
Aya said officers of the Nigeria Police Force has been mobilized to the river to recover the deceased body.
”We are yet to get details of the incident. Our officers have been mobilized to recover the body of the deceased. As soon as we get details, our unit will issue out details of the sad incident” he stated
