Gunmen’s Rampage Claims Four Lives in Kogi
Four individuals lost their lives as gunmen launched a vicious attack on Agojeju-Odo community in the Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State. The grim revelation was made by Umar Yahaya, a member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, during a press briefing on Thursday.
Yahaya, who represents Omala constituency, conveyed that the assailants, numbering over 100, infiltrated the community on January 30, 2024, around 3:30 pm. The attackers, believed to have entered from the eastern part of the town bordering Nasarawa and Benue states, unleashed a hail of gunfire, resulting in the tragic loss of four lives.
The lawmaker, visibly shaken by the incident, submitted a comprehensive report on the attack to Kogi State Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo. Yahaya urged the state government to intervene urgently, calling on the Commissioner of Police in Kogi, Benthrand Onuoha, and other security agency heads to deploy personnel to the affected areas for the restoration of law and order.
