Gunmen Strike Again in Anambra, Abduct NAUTH Doctor in Front of His Home
Gunmen have abducted a medical doctor from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi, Anambra State. The victim, identified as Dr. Collinus Onuigbo, a neurosurgeon, was kidnapped late Tuesday night in front of his residence, just a few meters from the hospital.
The incident occurred barely 72 hours after Governor Chukwuma Soludo launched Operation Udo Ga-Achị, also known as Agụnechemba, a new security initiative aimed at combating crime and restoring peace in the state.
A source close to the victim’s family revealed that they have been in distress since the abduction and are making frantic efforts to secure his release.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the authorities have mobilized efforts to rescue the doctor. He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has issued directives for immediate action, and officers are working with available clues to track down the kidnappers.
