Gunmen Open Fire Outside Party, Leaving 4 Dead, 3 Injured
On Sunday night, a group of masked gunmen unleashed a barrage of bullets outside a house party on North 2nd Street in King City, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and leaving three others injured, as reported by the King City Police Department.
According to authorities, the assailants arrived in a silver Kia, from which three men swiftly emerged, firing multiple rounds at partygoers in the front yard. The suspects, clad in dark-colored clothing and concealing their faces with masks, quickly fled the scene, evading identification as an ongoing manhunt continues.
Law enforcement responded promptly to the distressing situation, dispatching officers to the scene around 6 p.m. Three men were pronounced dead at the location, while a woman was rushed to Mee Memorial Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Additionally, three men were transported to Natividad Hospital in Salinas for urgent medical treatment.
This tragic incident adds to the concerning trend of gun violence across the United States. As of February 21, CNN reports at least 13 school shootings this year, resulting in eight deaths and over 20 injuries. The surge in such incidents in recent years, notably 2021, 2022, and 2023, highlights a disturbing pattern, with 2022 standing out as one of the deadliest years.
Amidst this troubling backdrop, students, educators, and activists have rallied against gun violence. However, some states, particularly in the south, continue to grapple with elevated rates of school shootings, as underscored by CNN’s analysis.
