Gunmen Kill Babcock University Professor, Abduct Two Others in Ogun State
Tragedy struck the Iperu area of Ogun State as gunmen killed a Babcock University law professor, Yinka Olomojobi, and abducted two others during an attack on Friday evening. The police have arrested one person in connection with the incident, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the rest of the culprits and rescue the kidnapped victims.
The incident occurred around 9:20 pm at the Ajadeh Event Centre on Sagamu Road in Iperu. According to eyewitness accounts, eight men dressed in black and armed with guns stormed the lounge, firing indiscriminately. Professor Olomojobi was reportedly shot in the chest after resisting attempts by the gunmen to abduct him. He was taken to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
During the attack, the gunmen also abducted two other individuals, identified as the manager of a car stand named Dare, and another person whose identity is yet to be confirmed.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Omolola Odutola, stated that a two-week-old security guard named Awada Ishaya from Plateau State had been arrested based on reasonable suspicion. Ishaya was employed at the event centre just two weeks ago, prompting further investigation into his involvement in the crime.
The police have commenced a discreet investigation and are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice while working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the abducted victims.
