Gunmen Attack Peter Obi, Odigie-Oyegun, Others in Edo
An attack was reported on Tuesday in Benin City, Benin City, targeting Peter Obi and members of the Obidient Movement during the formal defection of Olumide Akpata to the African Democratic Congress.
Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the movement, said armed men followed the delegation from the ADC secretariat to the residence of John Odigie-Oyegun, opening fire and damaging vehicles.
“No fatalities have been confirmed yet, but this appears to be a direct threat to the lives of our leadership,” Tanko said, calling for urgent action from security authorities. State officials have not released a formal statement.
