Gunmen have kidnapped Ifesinachi Onyekere, a prominent businessman and son of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Women Leader, in a late-night attack in Anambra State. The incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Onyekere’s residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno community, near Awka.
Onyekere, who serves as the Managing Director of Fish Magnet, was reportedly shot in the leg before being abducted. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, forced their way into the compound, and fled the scene in the victim’s navy blue Toyota Corolla. The car’s registration number has not yet been disclosed.
Sources say the assailants escaped through bush paths toward Nawfia, triggering panic in the area. Local volunteers and security watch groups have launched a search effort, while authorities are working to trace the victim’s phone and make contact with the kidnappers.
At the time of this report, Onyekere’s whereabouts remain unknown. His family has urged the public to remain calm and asked anyone with information to come forward.
