Guber Tribunal: Two Christian Judges Conspired to Remove me from Office, Gov Sule of Nasarawa Alleges

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has raised allegations of religious bias and conspiracy against him, claiming that two Christian judges played a role in his removal from office.

The governor voiced his concerns during a speech in Abuja on Tuesday, addressing an audience at the 2023 Peace and Development Summit for Young University Students. In a video circulating online, Sule recounted events leading up to his ousting from office after the Nasarawa governorship election held on March 18.

Governor Sule pointed out that before the election, Bishop Abioye of Living Faith had made a statement urging Christians to vote exclusively for Christian candidates. Sule believes that this statement influenced his removal by the tribunal.

He further accused the judges involved in the tribunal’s proceedings of basing their judgment on religious sentiments rather than the presented evidence. Sule claimed, “A lot of you must have read the tribunal ruling in our state when two of the judges, who are Christians, decided that a Christian won the election, and one Muslim judge decided that it is the Muslim who won the election.”
