Governor Lawal Reacts to Supreme Court’s Favorable Verdict
Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed gratitude following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold his victory in the March 2023 governorship election, urging opposition parties and citizens to collaborate in the state’s rescue mission.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal emphasized the significance of the Supreme Court’s verdict, stating it reflected the people’s aspirations for positive development and progress.
The apex court’s decision set aside the earlier ruling by the Court of Appeal Abuja, which had declared the Zamfara Governorship Election inconclusive. Justice Emmanuel Agim, delivering the lead decision, deemed the Court of Appeal’s judgment as perverse and lacking evidential foundation.
Governor Lawal underscored the importance of collective efforts for the sustainable development of the state, stating, “The success of our collective efforts depends on the active collaboration of all stakeholders. Let’s prioritize collaboration and work towards a better future for our state.”
Thrilled by the affirmation of his election, Governor Lawal sees the Supreme Court’s decision as a boost to morale in fulfilling campaign promises. He noted, “This victory is confirmation of the collective decision made by the people of Zamfara State during the governorship election held in March last year.”
Guided by his campaign manifesto, Governor Lawal’s administration has swiftly taken action to liberate Zamfara from the shackles of poor governance. Calling on all residents, including opposition parties, he urged unity in rebuilding and restoring the state.
Governor Lawal concluded, “My administration is on a mission to rebuild the state, and the Supreme Court’s decision is a victory for the people who trusted me.” The governor’s call for collaboration echoes his commitment to a united effort in shaping a better future for Zamfara.
