Gov Bala Slams Dogara: You’re a Political Turncoat Trying to Regain President Tinubu’s Favour After Betraying Him in the Last Election
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has launched a scathing attack on former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, labeling him an “opportunist” and accusing him of betraying President Bola Tinubu.
In a heated statement issued through his Media Aide, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed criticized Dogara for allegedly attempting to mend fences with Tinubu after turning against him during the last presidential election. Mohammed suggested that Dogara’s actions were driven by self-interest and a desire to regain favor with the President, whom he had previously opposed.
The governor’s remarks come in the wake of his earlier criticisms of Tinubu’s policies, which he blamed for causing widespread hardship in Nigeria. Mohammed had challenged Tinubu to reconsider his approach, arguing that a change in policy could bolster the opposition’s chances in the 2027 elections.
Reacting to Mohammed’s criticism, Dogara dismissed the governor’s comments as unnecessary and unprovoked. However, Governor Mohammed did not hold back, describing Dogara as a “political turncoat” who had abandoned Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, allegedly due to dissatisfaction over the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
In his strongly-worded statement, Mohammed accused Dogara of exploiting situations for personal gain and questioned the former Speaker’s sincerity in his recent overtures towards the President. He suggested that Dogara’s change of heart was driven by desperation, describing him as a “political orphan” who is now seeking to reestablish his position by ingratiating himself with Tinubu.
The governor also criticized Dogara’s recent comments about the judiciary, calling them “juvenile recklessness” and accusing him of showing little respect for the legal system.
