Good Politics part 3: 5th December 2016
In all my 13 years in the PDP I have never asked for anything from anyone…I have never lobbied or begged to be put in any committee…in fact I am always shocked.
I was put in two presidential campaign committees in 2015, the national conference 2015 committee with Amanda Chisom and Viola Ifeyinwa Okolie, the PDP concerned stakeholders Commitee where I complained about lack of youth inclusion and slots were allocated. Now I am a member of the PDP strategy and review committee…all by nomination
Meanwhile these committees are voluntary…I live in Lagos and fly to Abuja, stay in hotels…cos I don’t want insult so I don’t stay with people…it’s expensive and tedious…I struggle to cope with the demands.
Would you lobby to be in this kind of committees in the middle of a recession? Even when there was money…would you be the mumu blowing money on PDP while others are getting billions.
Would you beg for this when you can barely survive?
Some of us have sacrificed for years…and continue to do so…because we see good politics as a means to good governance and eventually a good decent country.
Every time we ask for more youth inclusion the elders in the party quickly say this is self funded…they see youth as liabilities and not assets…people that come and ask for transport and logistics money…I have fought for the youth and will continue to insist that the young people are given a space in the political domain. I wish I could fund them sef…but I tell them if you are in this for money, you have failed.
Like I always tell young people…decide what you are…are you a contractor or a party loyalist?
