Serious crises has continued to rock the All Progressive Congress (APC) as Victor Gaidom has declared himself the acting National Chairman of the party.
He stated that the appointment of Abiola Ajimobi as the acting Chairman cannot stand because it is null and void.
Gaidom who was with the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the Party, Muhammed Sani Ibrahim while speaking at the National Secretariat of the Party in Abuja, referred to a court order issued on 16th of March, 2020 in a suit delivered by Justice S.U Bature.
He stated that, his ascension to the office of the Acting National Chairman, could not be immediately effected at that time, because of the temporary reprieve Adams Oshiomole got from the court of appeal on that day.
He however reiterated that, “The Court of Appeal, having removed the reprieve and considering the fact that we cannot allow for a vacuum, I most humbly inform you that, I have assumed office as Acting National Chairman of our great party, in compliance with the order of the court.”
He further declared the disqualification of Obaseki from contesting in the Edo State Governorship primaries as null and void.
He consequently directed that all Governorship aspirants of the party in Edo State should report to the National Secretariat of the party immediately for a fresh screening exercise in line with the party constitution.
