FULL LIST: NELFUND Announces 36 State-Owned Institutions Eligible for Student Loans
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has unveiled a comprehensive list of 36 state-owned institutions that have successfully submitted complete student data to its Student Verification System (SVS) portal. Effective July 7, 2024, students enrolled in these institutions can now apply for student loans.
In a statement released on Sunday, NELFUND urged other state-owned tertiary institutions to submit their complete student data to the SVS portal to enable their students to benefit from the loan scheme.
Here is the full list of eligible institutions:

- Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri
- Borno State University
- Mohammed Lawan College of Agriculture, Borno
- Edo State University, Uzairue
- Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti
- Gombe State University
- Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Imo
- Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo
- Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria
- Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano
- Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina
- Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management
- Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero
- Confluence University of Science and Technology, Kogi State
- Lagos State University of Education

The NELFUND portal, which went live on May 24, is accessible to students of these tertiary institutions. Initially introduced by President Bola Tinubu in June 2023, the student loan policy aims to provide interest-free loans to students. Although the scheme was set to commence in October 2023, its implementation was delayed until April 2024.
In June 2024, NELFUND approved the disbursement of student loans to all successful applicants in its first rollout.
