Full List: JAMB Suspends Law Admissions at Eight Universities for 2025 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of admissions into the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme at eight Nigerian universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. The decision follows a directive from the Council of Legal Education (CLE), Nigeria’s highest authority on legal education, which suspended the law programmes at the affected institutions.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, stated that as a result of the CLE’s decision, the board will not process any applications for law programmes at these universities. The affected institutions include Kwara State University, Malete; Bingham University, Karu; Redeemers University, Ede; Western Delta University, Oghara; and Taraba State University, Jalingo. Others are Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo; Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike; and the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil.

Additionally, JAMB clarified that the suspension of the law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, will remain in place for two academic sessions, covering both 2025/2026 and 2026/2027.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which is set to begin on Friday, January 31. The exam, conducted by JAMB, serves as the primary entrance test for candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions. Approximately 1.5 million candidates are expected to participate in the computer-based examination.
