Full list: JAMB Delists Five CBT Centres, Arrests 27 for Impersonation in Ongoing UTME 2025
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has taken action against five Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres over technical failures during the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). In an official statement, JAMB announced that the affected centres, located in Kano, Sokoto, and Imo states, did not meet the Board’s minimum operational standards. The delisted centres are: Adventure Associate in Kano, Saadatu Rimi College of Education in Kano, and two centres operated by Penta M & F Technical Services in Sokoto, as well as Soronara Ventured Nigeria Limited in Imo State. Candidates who were scheduled to take their exams at these centres have been advised to reprint their examination notification slips to access new exam centres and rescheduled dates. JAMB stressed that failure to do so will not be excused.
As of April 25, more than 900,000 candidates have completed the UTME out of the 2,083,600 who registered for the 2025 exam. JAMB has commended the 883 centres that met the Board’s ethical and technical standards, warning that any centre found violating these standards will face blacklisting.
In a separate update, 27 individuals have been arrested for impersonation during the exams. The suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution. This is part of JAMB’s increased efforts to tackle examination malpractice through enhanced biometric verification and surveillance.
JAMB also addressed a recent issue at Caleb University in Lagos, where a security official attempted to prevent candidates from wearing hijabs. The Board described the action as “unauthorized and misguided,” and clarified that the issue was resolved following intervention from the university’s Vice-Chancellor. JAMB expressed its apologies to affected candidates and praised the swift response of the university’s leadership to ensure no candidate was disadvantaged.
The UTME is a crucial exam for students seeking admission to Nigerian universities. JAMB continues to strengthen its monitoring measures to address previous concerns around technical glitches, capacity issues, and malpractice in the examination process.
