Full List: FG Warns of Heavy Rainfall, Flood Risk in 14 States

The Federal Government has issued a warning of possible heavy rainfall and flooding in 14 states between September 4 and 8, 2025. The National Flood Early Warning Centre (FEWS Centre) of the Ministry of Environment raised the alert on Thursday, advising communities and stakeholders to take precautionary measures.

 

Usman Abdullahi Bokani, Director of the Erosion, Flood, and Coastal Zone Management Department, said the affected areas include Ebonyi (Afikpo), Cross River (Edor, Ikom, Itigidi, Akpap), Kano (Gwarzo, Karaye), Zamfara (Anka, Gummi, Kaura Namoda, Maradun, Shinkafi, Bukuyum), Taraba (Dampar, Duchi, Garkowa, Gassol, Gembu, Gun Gun Bodel, Kambari, Mayo Ranewo, Mutum Biyu, Bandawa, Ngaruwa), Abia (Eziama, Umuahia), and Yobe (Geidam, Kanama, Potiskum).

 

Others include Plateau (Langtang, Shendam, Wase), Borno (Ngala), Imo (Okigwe, Otoko), Niger (Sarki Pawa), Sokoto (Sokoto, Wamakko, Isa, Shagari, Makira), Kaduna (Kafanchan), and Akwa Ibom (Oron).

 

The ministry urged residents in these areas to remain alert and cooperate with local authorities to mitigate risks. It also requested updates and feedback from state governments and relevant agencies on any major developments during the period.
