Former APC Deputy NPS Calls on Tinubu to Let FBI and CIA Do Their Job
Comrade Timi Frank, a former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a statement urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to permit the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States of America to proceed with their investigations without obstruction.
This appeal comes in response to recent legal action taken by President Tinubu in the USA to halt the impending release of his records from the FBI and CIA. Reports emerged in September that approximately 2,500 documents relating to President Tinubu were scheduled to be made public by the FBI.
According to The Peoples Gazette, Christopher Carmichael, a lawyer who previously represented Tinubu in a contentious academic record case in Chicago, has filed motions to appear in an ongoing freedom of information action. This action seeks records that may shed light on President Tinubu’s identity and past activities, as they are believed to be held by U.S. organizations.
In his statement, Timi Frank questioned why a public servant and the President of the most populous black country in Sub-Saharan Africa would seek to block the release of his records with U.S. security agencies if he had nothing to hide. Frank stated, “This move has confirmed that you have a serious criminal record that you don’t want Nigerians or the world to know.”
Frank further asserted that President Tinubu should consider resigning if he possesses a criminal background. He emphasized, “You cannot stop Nigerians from asking questions or the American security agencies from doing their job.”
Timi Frank is also the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East. He expressed his belief that President Tinubu’s actions are an embarrassment to the presidency, Nigerians, and the international community.
Frank concluded his statement by expressing confidence that the American court, where Tinubu is seeking an injunction to block the release of his files, will proceed similarly to the Chicago court, which ordered the release of Tinubu’s academic records. He called on U.S. judges to act in the interest of Nigerians and not personal agendas.
Additionally, Timi Frank urged President Tinubu to cease using Nigerian taxpayers’ money to fund foreign lawyers for his defense in cases related to identity and perjury.
The matter remains ongoing, and Nigerians await the resolution of this controversy as questions about President Tinubu’s past and background continue to swirl.
