Forgery Allegations: Why Tinubu’s Certificate Indicates Female – President’s Lawyer Afolabi
President Bola Tinubu’s lawyer, Wole Afolabi, has provided an explanation for the surprising revelation that the president’s Chicago State University (CSU) certificate indicates a female (F) gender designation. Afolabi defended the authenticity of the certificate, attributing the gender mix-up to an error made by the university.
Afolabi addressed this issue during an exclusive interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today program held on Thursday. This revelation comes in the wake of the legal actions taken by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. Atiku had filed a case in the District Court of Northern Illinois in the United States, which subsequently ordered CSU to release President Tinubu’s academic records to him.
When questioned about the certificate’s unexpected gender indication, Afolabi explained, “The transcript that was provided by Southwest College indicated ‘F’. It was clear. All of the other particulars did match information of President Bola Tinubu.” He further elaborated that the registrar at the university had clarified the situation, stating that the applicant had mistakenly checked the box for male instead of female when applying to the school. Consequently, the admission letter was issued to Mr. Tinubu.
Afolabi also pointed out that discrepancies in the signatures on the certificate were not unusual. He clarified that certificates were not issued immediately upon graduation but rather when an individual applied for them. Thus, the person who issued the certificate that Tinubu submitted to INEC might not have been associated with the university in 1979, potentially explaining the variations in signatures.
As this story continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these revelations will impact President Tinubu’s political career and the ongoing legal proceedings initiated by Atiku Abubakar.
