Five World Leaders to Attend Buhari’s Funeral in Daura
Five Presidents from various countries are expected to attend the funeral of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State. The development was confirmed by Buhari’s former media aide, Bashir Ahmad, in a post shared on his official Facebook page on Monday. He noted, “So far, five presidents are expected to attend the Janaiza of former President Muhammadu Buhari.”
The former president died in London on Sunday after a prolonged illness. His body is scheduled to arrive in Nigeria by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, with burial planned for 2 p.m. the same day in accordance with Islamic rites. The Katsina State Government has confirmed that preparations are underway for the final rites in Daura.
Tributes have been pouring in from African leaders and dignitaries around the world, praising Buhari’s contributions to Nigeria and the continent. Vice President Kashim Shettima and other senior government officials are currently in London and will accompany the late president’s remains back to Nigeria.
