Finally, Finally, Delta is APC!” – Keyamo Celebrates as Governor Oborevwori, Okowa, Others Join Ruling Party
In a landmark political realignment in Delta State, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has hailed the defection of key political figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), crediting President Bola Tinubu’s leadership for the shift.
Keyamo took to X on Wednesday to share his excitement, posting a video of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his commissioners singing “On Your Mandate,” the anthem associated with President Tinubu. “Today is the day the Lord has made in Delta State. Finally, finally Delta is APC! Thank you, Mr. President for your leadership that has attracted the best to our Party. Thank you, my leader & Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori for your foresight and courage in taking this bold decision,” he wrote.
Delta State has historically been a PDP stronghold, making the defection of Governor Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and other top officials a major political development. Okowa, who served as Vice Presidential candidate for the PDP in the 2023 election, also confirmed his move to the APC.
Senator James Manager further disclosed that the defection included all PDP members in the state, naming the governor, Okowa, the Speaker, the state party chairman, and all local government chairmen. “We cannot continue to be in a sinking boat,” he said, underscoring the growing momentum of the APC in the South-South region.
