“FG Will Respond Through the EU to Extradite Simon Ekpa,” Says DHQ
In response to recent declarations by Simon Ekpa, the leader of the Biafra Government in Exile (BRGIE), the Nigerian federal government has announced its intention to engage with the European Union (EU) to facilitate his extradition from Finland. This was revealed by Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, during a press briefing.
General Buba’s statement came after Ekpa announced via social media that the BRGIE plans to present the official map of the “40 United States of Biafra” and make a formal declaration of the Biafra Republic on December 2, 2024. Ekpa, who identifies as the Prime Minister of BRGIE, claims this move is a significant step towards achieving Biafran independence.
The Nigerian government, while continuing its military operations against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), is now pursuing diplomatic avenues to ensure Ekpa’s extradition through collaboration with the Finnish government and the EU. General Buba confirmed that military efforts against IPOB and ESN will persist alongside these diplomatic initiatives.
