FG Summons NLC, TUC for Emergency Meeting to Prevent Nationwide Strike
In a race against time to avert the looming nationwide strike scheduled for October 3, the Federal Government has taken decisive action by inviting the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) to an emergency meeting.
The emergency meeting, as reported by Vanguard, is set to take place later this evening in the Conference Room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, located at Aso Villa.
Originally scheduled for noon today, the meeting had to be rescheduled for the evening to allow the representatives of Organised Labour to communicate with their leaders outside of Abuja.
Sources reveal that the Ministry of Labour and Employment extended the government’s invitation to both the NLC and TUC earlier today. This gathering holds the key to potential negotiations and agreements that could prevent the nationwide strike from paralyzing the nation on October 3.
As the nation watches closely, hopes are high for a constructive dialogue between the Federal Government and the Labour leaders to resolve the issues at hand and avert the impending crisis.
