FG Launches ‘Fly Now, Pay Later’ Scheme for Domestic Air Travel
The Federal Government has introduced a consumer credit initiative designed to ease access to domestic air travel by allowing Nigerians to spread the cost of flight tickets over time.
The programme, titled “Fly Now, Pay Later,” was announced on Tuesday by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) via its official X account. The scheme enables eligible passengers to book local flights immediately and repay through structured instalments.
According to the agency, the initiative addresses a key challenge facing travellers—high upfront ticket costs that often delay urgent or essential trips.
CREDICORP stated that the scheme is being implemented in partnership with MyVisaro and Alert Microfinance Bank, as part of broader efforts to expand access to responsible credit.
Interested applicants are required to visit the Visaro platform to book flights to destinations within Nigeria under the financing arrangement.
The agency said the programme aligns with its mandate to promote financial inclusion and improve access to services through credit-based solutions.
The rollout comes at a time of rising domestic airfare. During the 2025 holiday season, one-way ticket prices on some routes increased by about 150 percent, with fares exceeding ₦300,000. Airlines have linked the surge to higher aviation fuel costs, foreign exchange pressures, and increased operational expenses.
CREDICORP said the new scheme is intended to reduce the impact of these costs on travellers while supporting mobility within the country.
