FG Declares Wednesday Public Holiday

In a move to honor the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, September 27, as a public holiday. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government.

As the Eid-el-Maulud celebration approaches, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended his warm congratulations to the Muslim Ummah, both within Nigeria and abroad, for the significance of this occasion. He emphasized the importance of embracing the values of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, all of which were exemplified by the Holy Prophet.

Minister Tunji-Ojo took the opportunity to encourage all Nigerians, especially the youth, to adopt the virtues of hard work and a peaceful disposition towards their fellow citizens, regardless of differences in faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity. He urged them to unite in support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to construct a progressive and admirable nation that all Nigerians can take pride in.

In conclusion, Mr. Tunji-Ojo extended his best wishes to the Muslim Ummah for a joyful celebration of Eid-el-Maulud. This public holiday provides an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and promote unity, tolerance, and peace within the nation.
