FG Declares Public Holiday for Eid-Ul-Adha

The Federal Government has announced that Monday and Tuesday will be public holidays to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha this year. This announcement was made by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, in a statement on Friday.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In his message, he congratulated all Muslim faithful both in Nigeria and abroad, urging them to embody the values of peace, kindness, and sacrifice demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He also called for prayers for the nation’s unity, prosperity, and stability.

“The Minister assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians,” the statement added. “While wishing the Muslim Ummah a joyous Eid-ul-Adha celebration, the Minister advised all Nigerians to take responsibility in striving to leave a prosperous Nigeria for future generations.”

In related news, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, declared that Eid-el-Kabir will be observed on Sunday, June 16, following the confirmation that Friday marks the first day of Dhul Hijjah. This was announced in a statement by Sambo Junaid, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, Sokoto State.

“His Eminence, the Sultan, extends his felicitations to Nigeria’s Muslim community, wishing them Allah’s guidance and blessings. He also urges continued prayers for the peace, progress, and development of the country,” the statement read. “May Allah (SWT) accept our religious deeds, amen.”
