FG Declares December 25, 26, and January 1 as Public Holidays

 

 

The Federal Government has announced December 25th and 26th, 2024, as well as January 1st, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations. This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as conveyed in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Monday, December 23, in Abuja.

 

Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm greetings to Nigerians, urging citizens to use the festive period to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity symbolized by the season. He highlighted the importance of fostering harmony and strengthening familial and communal bonds during this time.

 

He further called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their commitment to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, emphasizing that the Christmas season offers an opportunity for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. The Minister encouraged citizens to demonstrate kindness and goodwill across all divides, drawing inspiration from the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

 

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also reassured the public of the Federal Government’s dedication to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity nationwide. He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would drive national development, ushering in a more prosperous economy in 2025.

 

In conclusion, the Minister wished all Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, expressing optimism about the nation’s future under the current administration.
