FG Begins Payment of Wage Award Arrears to Civil Servants
The Federal Government has commenced the payment of N35,000 wage award arrears to civil servants across various ministries, departments, and agencies. This development was confirmed in a statement released by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) in Abuja on May 26, 2025.
According to the OAGF, a significant number of federal employees have already received their payments, while others will be credited in due course. The Office clarified that the wage award, intended as relief for workers, will be disbursed in monthly instalments of N35,000 over five months.
Contrary to reports circulating online, the OAGF stressed that the Accountant General of the Federation, Babatunde Ogunjimi, did not state that the N35,000 wage award was excluded from the 2025 Budget. The Office also noted that Ogunjimi had not issued any press briefing regarding the wage award.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, the OAGF assured that all outstanding arrears will be fully paid, in line with earlier promises.
