Female Staff Strangled to Death in Hotel Premises
A female kitchen worker at a hotel in the Babaode area of Ilorin was killed in the early hours of Saturday, prompting fear and confusion within the neighbourhood and among guests. The staff member, whose identity has not yet been released, was reportedly attacked around midnight by unidentified individuals.
Information gathered indicates she was strangled with a cloth. A resident familiar with the incident said the woman was heard shouting “thief, thief” moments before she was overpowered. Accounts of what led to the attack differ, with some suggesting the assailants may have been hired, while others believe the intruders were targeting the hotel owner, who was not present at the time.
The incident caused panic inside the hotel, resulting in several guests leaving the premises. The state’s police commissioner, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the case on Monday, noting that investigators are working to uncover those responsible and the motive behind the killing.
