Federal High Court orders FG to implement 35% affirmative action for women

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Federal Government to comply with the implementation of the 35% affirmative action for women.

Justice Donatus Okorowo in his judgment stated that the National Gender Policy is not merely a policy statement, but one that must be backed with requisite action on the part of the federal government, as Nigeria is signatory to international treaties particularly on those entrenching the rights of women.
