Contractors doing road projects in Anambra state now leave in fear following speculations that more non performing contractors may loose their jobs.
Recall that the contractor handling the Ekwulobia – Isuofia road lost his contract following termination of the ongoing project by Gov Charles Soludo yesterday.
Citypost observed that contractors in most construction sites in Anambra state have consequently mobilized fully to site for fear of having their contracts terminated.
When contacted, the Press Secretary to Soludo Mr Christian Aburime told this reporter that his boss is a stickler to standards and quality adding that the governor has paid the contractors up front and as such have no reason whatsoever not to deliver.
“There is nothing to fear about if a contractor is doing his job based on specifications as stipulated in the contract agreement”
“This is Anambra tax payers money at work and we cannot allow public funds to be wasted by non performing contractors and the governor will not fail to use the big stick where necessary”
Aburime further explained that every contract has durations and contractors must stick to those durations and deliver quality road construction to Anambra people.
“We wish to urge the general public to discountenance those rumors that the termination of the Ekwulobia – Isuofia road contract was done out of malice contending that those rumor peddlers are out to undermine the drive by Soludo to provide quality basic infrastructures to the masses.
“It is not true because that contract was to have been completed by October this year but the contractor failed and some rumor mongers went to town with the headline that it was done in bad taste”
“Gov Charles Soludo cannot play politics with the interest and well being of Anambra people and he wish to reassure all and sundry that his administration remains committed towards taking governance to the grassroot” he noted.
