Father of Liverpool Star Luis Diaz Freed by Colombian Guerrillas
The father of Liverpool’s Colombian football sensation, Luis Diaz, has been released by his kidnappers. Luis Manuel Diaz was abducted in Colombia just last month, prompting an intense search operation conducted by special forces across the border region with Venezuela. To aid in his rescue, authorities had offered a reward of £39,000 ($48,000) for any information regarding the kidnapping.
The successful release of Luis Manuel Diaz was made possible when members of the National Liberation Army (ELN) handed him over to United Nations and Catholic church officials, according to reports by the BBC.
The Colombian Football Federation (CFF) wasted no time in confirming this heartwarming development. In an official statement on its website, the CFF expressed its gratitude to the National Government, the Military Forces, and the National Police, along with all the institutions and officials involved, for their concerted efforts in securing the release of Luis Manuel Diaz, the father of their star player, Luis Diaz.
The statement by the CFF emphasized the significance of football as a sport that embodies talent, dedication, teamwork, and fundamental human values. It urged that the world of football in Colombia must remain a symbol of entertainment, healthy competition, unity, and joy.
The CFF underlined the need to preserve the sport of football and ensure that all those associated with it, both in terms of playing and administration, and their families, are shielded from any scenario other than the sporting arena. The organization stressed that behind every football, there are dreams and aspirations of individuals from all walks of life, reflecting the passion of an entire nation.
In a final note, the CFF emphasized that football symbolizes passion in peace and called for the continued protection of this reality against any threats.
This remarkable news has brought relief to fans and followers of football, as Luis Diaz’s father reunites with his family, and the sport continues to inspire and unite in Colombia.
