Fatal Crash in Anambra: Speeding Truck Kills Multiple Residents
A tragic accident occurred late Friday night in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, when a speeding truck rammed into a group of residents near the Chisco Park Junction. The incident happened at approximately 9:33 p.m., according to eyewitness accounts.
Locals said the truck appeared to suffer a brake failure before veering into people who were either trading or waiting to board a vehicle at the roadside. Chilling CCTV footage of the scene, which has since circulated on social media, shows the moment of impact, with several individuals struck and left lifeless in a pool of blood.
“A few of us who saw the trailer coming towards our direction quickly ran away before it got to us,” a witness who preferred to remain anonymous said. “We believe it must have been a brake failure.”
The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, Margaret Onabe, confirmed the incident but said the number of casualties had not yet been verified. She added that an official statement would be released in due course.
Authorities are expected to begin a formal investigation into the cause of the crash as residents mourn the devastating loss.
