“Fake news everywhere, I will serve my country” — Fani-Kayode denies German rejection report
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has dismissed claims circulating online that his ambassadorial nomination was rejected by Germany, describing the report as false and politically driven.
The report had alleged that German authorities objected to his proposed diplomatic posting over concerns tied to past public remarks, and that an alternative posting in South Africa was being considered. It also linked the alleged rejection to comments described as controversial and divisive.
The claims emerged shortly after President Bola Tinubu approved Fani-Kayode’s nomination as part of a list of ambassador-designates for deployment to various countries.
Reacting on Monday via his X account, Fani-Kayode rejected the story and accused political opponents of attempting to undermine his appointment.
He wrote:
“Fake news everywhere. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment, and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it. Whether they like it or not, I will serve my country! Keep crying!”
