Explosion Rocks Iju Ishaga Area of Lagos
An explosion has shaken the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria. The incident, occurring on Tuesday night at Agbado Road, Toyin Bus Stop, Iju Ishaga, sparked panic among local residents.
Witnesses reported balls of fire and a loud bang echoing several meters from the scene. Emergency responders quickly identified the source as a gas tanker that had accidentally caught fire.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the ongoing response to the fire explosion. She stated, “The fire, reported at 22:04hrs on Tuesday, resulted from a gas tanker accidentally catching fire, accompanied by an explosion.”
Efforts are underway to contain the fire to the tanker and adjacent shops. Adeseye reassured the public of their safety and urged them to keep a distance from the scene. She also cautioned against using naked flames in the vicinity.
