Expert Warns: Indiscriminate Use of Sex Toys Linked to Higher Infection, Infertility Risks in Women
Victor Ayoola, CEO of Anaxon Wellness/Trado-medical, has raised concerns about the indiscriminate use of sex toys, warning that it could significantly increase the risk of infections and infertility among women.
Ayoola highlighted a recent alert from the World Health Organisation (WHO) regarding the surge in sexually transmitted infections (STIs). According to WHO, there were eight million new STI cases in 2022 among adults aged 15-49, including about 230,000 syphilis-related deaths.
Ayoola linked the rising infection rates to the growing popularity and widespread use of sex toys among women. He emphasized the importance of safe practices, including cleaning and maintenance, and advised against sharing these devices.
“Sex toys are not inherently dangerous, but they can become vectors for infections if not used properly,” Ayoola said. “Avoid sharing devices and ensure they are thoroughly cleaned after each use to reduce the risk of STIs, bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, and urinary tract infections (UTIs).”
In cases of suspected infections, Ayoola urged timely testing and treatment to prevent serious complications such as infertility. He also advocated for alternative medicine as a cost-effective solution for treating antibiotic-resistant infections.
“It’s crucial to seek treatment promptly and consider alternative medicine for innovative and affordable care,” Ayoola stated. “However, always ensure that you consult registered facilities to avoid the risks associated with unqualified practitioners.”
