Ex-Worker and Accomplice Kill Lagos Businessman, Steal N3.2m
A businessman, Ali Usman, was brutally murdered by his former employee, Zubar, and an accomplice, Rasaq, in the Agbowa Ikosi community of Epe, Lagos State.
The tragic incident occurred on May 20, 2024. Usman, a native of Kwara State, was riding his motorcycle with his five-year-old son, Sobur, when the assailants ambushed them near their home. The attackers, armed with sticks, repeatedly struck Usman on the head until he lost consciousness. They stole N3.2 million in cash from Usman but left his son unharmed.
Usman’s neighbor, Moshood Sharafadeen, recounted how Sobur ran home to alert the family. Despite being rushed to multiple hospitals, Usman succumbed to his injuries at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
The attack was reported to the Agbowa Police Station, leading to the swift arrest of Zubar, who was found with blood-stained clothes. Rasaq was later apprehended in Osun State. Investigations revealed that Zubar, familiar with Usman’s routine, knew he carried large sums of money on Mondays.
Usman, a meat seller, is survived by 11 children and three wives. His elder brother, Suleiman, and one of his wives, Shukura, are demanding justice for his murder.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department for further investigation. Usman was laid to rest last Monday.
