Ex-APC Youth Leader Resigns from Party

Abubakar Sadiq Sa’adu Fakai, former North-West Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially resigned from the party. In a letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Mahuta Ward in Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Fakai cited a departure from the party’s founding principles as the reason behind his decision.

Describing the move as the result of “deep reflection” and “solemn contemplation,” Fakai said his choice followed “a period of profound introspection and earnest dialogue” with his conscience. He emphasized his longstanding commitment to the ideals that once defined the APC, ideals he believes no longer guide the party’s actions.

Fakai, who previously served as a member of the APC’s National Executive Committee, said the decision was made after broad consultations with family members, community elders, and his constituents. According to him, these groups share a growing disappointment with the party’s inability to deliver on its promises or meet public expectations for effective governance.

“In honour of my conscience and in loyalty to the aspirations of those I represent,” he wrote, “it has become imperative to part ways with the All Progressives Congress at this juncture.”

While Fakai did not disclose his next political steps, he extended well wishes to the APC and expressed hope for peace and continued progress in Nigeria.
