Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) Addresses Poor Power Supply in South-East, Appeals for Understanding
In a recent statement, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC) shed light on the reasons behind the current poor power supply plaguing the South-East region of Nigeria.
The DisCo attributed the situation to low energy generation, resulting in a significant decline in power supply availability across the board. Mr. Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, emphasized that the circumstances were beyond the control of the organization.
Ezeh appealed to residents of the affected zone, urging them to bear with the company during these challenging times. He explained that the decline in energy generation had led to a reduction in the daily megawatt hour (MWH) of energy allocated to distribution companies nationwide, subsequently impacting the quality of service provided to customers.
“We understand the inconveniences this situation has caused our esteemed customers and appeal for their understanding as it is beyond us. We can only distribute what is allocated to us,” stated Ezeh.
Highlighting ongoing efforts by stakeholders in the power sector to address the issue, Ezeh expressed hope for positive results that would lead to the restoration of normal distribution. Despite the challenges, he reassured customers that EEDC remained committed to delivering improved services.
