Police have arrested “Empire” actor Bryshere Gray on domestic violence charges after his wife was found injured at a gas station in Goodyear on Sunday night, authorities announced Monday.
The Goodyear Police Department said that they responded to a Circle K after a citizen made a 911 call, stating that they had pulled over to help a woman who said she had been assaulted by her husband for the last several hours.
The victim was at another gas station when she flagged down the passerby, who then drove her to the Circle K, police said.
The victim was clearly injured, police said. She also told police her husband was Bryshere Gray and that her husband had choked her, causing her to lose consciousness. She was brought to a nearby hospital, where she received treatment and was later released.
Officers went to Gray’s home in an effort to contact him, police said. Goodyear SWAT and Crisis Negotiations were called in to assist the police when Gray refused to come out from his home.
Just after 7 a.m. on Monday, police were able to arrest Gray and book him into Maricopa County Jail on domestic violence charges.
“Empire” is a Fox drama television series about a family, the Lyons, who are involved in the hip hop music industry. Bryshere Gray played the role of Hakeem Lyon, the family’s youngest son.
