Elon Musk’s Transgender Daughter Vivian Wilson Announces Plan to Leave U.S. After Trump’s Return to Office
Vivian Wilson, the 20-year-old estranged daughter of Elon Musk, has publicly announced plans to leave the United States following Donald Trump’s recent election victory. Citing concerns over the nation’s political direction, Wilson expressed her views on the social media platform Threads, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
In her post, Wilson shared her worries about staying in the U.S. amid Trump’s return to the presidency. “I don’t see my future in the United States,” she wrote. “I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. Even if he’s only in office for four years, even if anti-trans regulations don’t materialize, the people who voted for this aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.”
Born Xavier Musk in 2004, Wilson came out as transgender in April 2022, legally changing her name and gender while requesting to sever ties with Musk, her biological father, by taking her mother’s maiden name. In court filings, she emphasized her desire for independence from Musk, stating, “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
Musk, who has openly supported Trump and fathered 12 children, has spoken about his estrangement from Wilson, attributing their conflicts to differences in ideology. Musk previously described Wilson as a “communist” who views wealth negatively, and he claims he was pressured into consenting to her use of puberty blockers.
Recalling the experience, Musk said, “I was essentially tricked into signing documents for Xavier. I didn’t fully understand what was happening at the time; it was during COVID, and I was told Xavier might commit suicide.” Musk has been vocal about his opposition to puberty blockers, referring to them as “sterilisation drugs,” and has described gender dysphoria as “incredibly evil,” suggesting that those who promote it should “go to prison.”
Wilson responded to Musk’s comments by challenging his involvement in her life. She stated that her father was largely absent during her childhood and often criticized her identity. “He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he simply wasn’t there,” she said. “I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness. I’ve been reduced to a stereotype. I think that says a lot about how he views queer people and children in general.”
Wilson’s decision to relocate highlights the growing generational and ideological divides within the U.S.
