El-Rufai Hails Warm Reception in Owerri, Urges Stronger National Unity
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, has described his recent two-day visit to Owerri, the Imo State capital, as both memorable and inspiring, praising the warmth and hospitality he received throughout his engagements. In a statement issued by his media adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai expressed gratitude for the reception accorded him during interactions with religious leaders, political associates, stakeholders, and traditional institutions.
Reflecting on the visit, he noted that the purpose of his trip was to strengthen conversations around unity and national progress, adding that the experience in Owerri exceeded expectations. “Owerri has been a great visit. We were well-received everywhere we went. From religious institutions to engagements with stakeholders, political associates and the traditional institution, it has been a consistent pattern of welcome and openness,” the statement quoted him as saying.
El-Rufai said he was particularly struck by the dignity and grace displayed by the people and institutions he encountered, describing it as an admirable demonstration of unity that Nigeria needs to embrace across its diverse communities.
