EFCC Successfully Convicts 41 Internet Fraudsters in Oyo, Ogun States
In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has achieved a major victory, securing the conviction and sentencing of 41 internet fraudsters in the states of Oyo and Ogun. This success is attributed to the diligent efforts of EFCC’s Ibadan zonal office.
The convicted individuals, who all pleaded guilty to a one-count charge against them, were brought to justice before various judges in the region. Justices Ladiran Akintola and Adebukola Olajide of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, presided over some of the convictions. Additionally, justices Abiodun Akinyemi, A.A. Babawale, and B.B. Adebowale of the Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta, along with Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, played crucial roles in the legal proceedings.
The EFCC made this significant announcement through a statement issued by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale. The commission emphasized that all 41 individuals were apprehended by EFCC operatives due to their involvement in internet-related crimes.
The convicted fraudsters have been identified as Siyanbade Timilehin Omobosola, Ilugbo Emmanuel Adekunle, Odude Ayomide Michael, Aderounmu Gbenga Michael, Oluwole David Dare, Habeeblahi Abdullateef Akande, Ololade Sunday Olamide, Ibrahim Victor Abayomi, Adewusi Mojeed Adedeji, Afeez Lekan Jimoh, Peter Seyi Iyanuoluwa, Olatunde Abass, Alan-Oni Joseph Opeyemi, Adetunji Abolaji Adeola, and Ogunmola Oluwabori Michael.
This conviction represents a significant step in the fight against cybercrime, sending a strong message to individuals engaged in fraudulent online activities. The EFCC remains committed to tackling internet-related offenses and ensuring that justice is served.
