EFCC Raids Dangote Head Office Amid Forex Probe
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) executed a raid on the Lagos Head Office of the Dangote Group on Thursday. The operation, as reported by TheCable, was initiated to investigate forex allocations to the company during the period when Godwin Emefiele served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Notably, EFCC operatives, meticulously conducting the search, aim to uncover details surrounding financial transactions involving the Dangote Group during Emefiele’s tenure. While EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale refrained from commenting on the ongoing operation, a Dangote employee confirmed the presence of EFCC operatives at the company’s headquarters.
According to the employee, the EFCC officials specifically sought documents related to forex transactions with the CBN. This development adds a layer of scrutiny to the financial dealings of one of Nigeria’s most prominent conglomerates, raising questions about the nature and implications of the investigated transactions.
As the EFCC delves into the forex allocations during Emefiele’s term, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the intricacies of the financial activities under investigation.
